Abstract
Triage is an important part of emergency case management. Nurses' education is the end of the nursing profession's education studies at the undergraduate and professional education level which will carry out their work as a nurse profession in the health service settings both health clinics, health centers and hospitals.
The variety of students' knowledge about triage is something that needs to be responded related to the similarity of perceptions and the importance of ability to carry out triage documentation writing in order to achieve quality triage and emergency case management systems. The aims of this research is to describe the accuracy of writing triage emergency severity index (ESI) documentation by students of STIKES Cahaya Bangsa at the IGD of Ulin Hospital Banjarmasin.
Method of descriptive research, the sampling technique used in this study was accidental sampling with an observation sheet that adopted the ESI triage system. The results of the study were dominated by writing of ESI triage documentation with the right category as much as 38 sheets with a percentage of 76%, ESI triage documentation with inaccurate categories as much as 12 sheets with a percentage of 24%.
The conclusion of writing ESI triage documentation by students of STIKES Cahaya Bangsa was dominated by appropriate categories. The emergency department does not tolerate errors that result in inaccurate writing of documentation and categorization of priorities for patient triage, considering the risks that will be experienced by patients in emergency conditions can cause fatal conditions.
