Abstract
Anemia is a condition where the hemoglobin (Hb) level in the blood is less than normal. During pregnancy, there is an increase in blood volume (hypervolemia). Hypervolemia is a result of an increase in plasma volume and erythrocytes (red blood cells) that are in the body, but this increase is not balanced ie the increase in plasma volume is so much that it gives the effect that is the reduced hemoglobin concentration of 12g / 100ml.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving bit fruit juice on increasing Hb levels in third-trimester pregnant women.
The research is a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test post-test approach. The sample used was 16 third-trimester pregnant women who were determined using purposive sampling technique. The analysis test used was the Wilcoxon test.
The results of data analysis obtained p-value 0.004 <0.05, which means that there is a significant effect of giving beets to Hb levels in third-trimester pregnant women.
