Abstract
Appetite is a condition that encourages a person to satisfy the desire to eat other than hunger. Appetite disorder is an important clinical disorder but is ignored. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a record 23% of toddlers in the world experience low weight or below the red line. This study aims to determine the effect of bangkok papaya fruit (Carica papaya L) on increasing appetite in children aged 3-6 years.
The study design used Quasi Experiment with Pre And Post Test. The sample in this study were 18 children aged 3-6 years with Total Sampling technique.
The results of this study there are differences before being given bangkok papaya fruit, namely (100%) the respondent experienced a fixed BB / no increase for 1 month, after being given papaya fruit is known most (61%) respondents experienced an increase in BB and a small portion (31%) of respondents with BB fixed / not up. The statistical test used was the Wilcoxon test, obtained p value <0.05 (0.001).
The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of the provision of bangkok papaya fruit (Carica papaya L) on increasing appetite in children aged 3-6 years. The author suggests promoting the community to consume papaya fruit in order to increase BB in children.
