Abstract

50% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves and 70% ethanol extract of papaya fruit have antioxidant and sunscreen activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum composition of extract levels as an antiaging active ingredient based on antioxidant activity, SPF values and anti-elastase. The best composition is formulated in a cream preparation and tested for its physical properties. The second composition of the extract was prepared based on the concept of simplex lactic design (SLD), namely 100% ethanol extract of papaya fruit, 100% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves and 50% ethanol extract of papaya fruit: 50% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves. The parameters tested were antioxidant activity, SPF value and elastase inhibitory activity. The total response data is calculated to get the optimal composition. After getting the optimal formula, a validation test is performed to see the simple lactic design (SLD) equation. The optimal mixture formula is formulated in cream preparations and the pH value and flow properties are determined The test results showed the addition of the concentration of Moringa leaves ethanol extract in the mixture can reduce the IC50 value of antioxidants, increase the SPF value and decrease the IC50 value of the elastase enzyme inhibition. The validation results state that there is no significant difference which means that the equation of the simplex lactic design can be used. The conclusion based on the calculation is the optimum composition is the ratio of the extract mixture with a composition of 0: 1 or 0% ethanol extract of papaya fruit with 100% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves.
